Business Wire	Look-up companies and find links to their website, business sites profiling the company i.e. Hoovers, current stock quotes, and date-stamped news releases.
Corporate Information	Claims reports on over 15,000 public companies. Many are detailed analysis.
Companies Online	A joint venture between Dun & Bradstreet and Lycos which allows company look-ups on 100,000 public and private companies. A basic name, address, URL, and Duns Number is provided for matched businesses. Drilling down further will get you a Business Background Report ($$) on the target company.
Dot Com Directory	Basic demographic information, including URL look-up, on companies being searched. Will also provide mapping directions to the found business. A "business credit report" can be purchased (via InfoUSA) for more detailed information.
Dow Jones Business Directory	If the company you are interested in is found within any of the numerous industries listed, you will found a quality business background profile. Links to find industry related groups, the Better Business Bureau, and trade associations are provided. Further information, including published businesses articles about your target company, can be found by joining the Wall Street Interactive Edition (fee based).
Dow Jones.com	Company lookups and highlighting of most recent newsworthy articles on subject company. Can also see latest business news articles by industry.
Free Annual Reports	Annual reports on over 3600 companies.
Hoover's Online	The intention of founder Gary Hoover was to create a book (now website) of easy to understand information on the world's most influential businesses. Among the best business profiles and capsules on about 14,000 public and private companies. The site also has a wealth of other business information, including industry "snapshots" which profile specific issues pertaining an industry and the major companies that are active in that industry.
Intellifact.com	A tutorial about how to research companies and industries on the internet. Good links to sites that provide profiles, industry snapshots, and trade association listings.
Newspage	A fast way to get at the latest business press releases.
Researching Companies Online	An excellent starting point for understanding how to research companies and industries on the internet. Valuable links to popular sites for getting this information is provided.
Ranking List The Inc. 500	To qualify, these companies have been measured on revenue growth since 1994. They cannot be public companies. "Collectively, the 500 fast-growth superstars generated more than $11 billion in sales in 1998 and employed 67,271 people. Almost half the companies--46%--are in computer-related industries."
Ranking List Fortune.com	Listing of the Fortune 500 with key sales and financial data. Interested in other lists, i.e. "Best Companies to Work For?" This may be the site for you.
Ranking List Best 200 Small Companies	You get a good company "snapshot" if you are targeting any of the companies on this list. Forbes claims to use strict criteria in selecting these companies, i.e. a five year average annual growth in earnings. Thus, while you will not find any Internet stock companies among the 200, you will find a "battled-hardened bunch of competitors."
Ranking List Top 500 Private Companies	Another Forbes list. Searchable by state or industry. Good snapshot profiles on companies.
Ranking List Washington Post Top 200	If you want to work in or around the U.S. capital, the Washington Post newspaper has reviewed the "best" companies in a series of categories (i.e. top Maryland, top Virginia, top private, top financial, etc.). If you find a company that is of interest, excellent information is provided.
The Spire Project	Intended as a primer on "information research," this site has good advice on how to find information about companies and industries.
Thomas Register of American Manufacturers	This is a good way to find companies by the product they manufacturer. Database contains 158,000 companies, over 63,000 product and service classifications. Drilling down will take you to a short, company profile and links to their website and online catalogs.
TopStartups.com	Just as the name states, a great resource to find businesses in their formative years that might need your talents. Quality corporate profiles.
VaultReports	Claims to give you the "real scoop" on what's going on inside of the companies they follow. According to our contacts, and our own personal experience, the information they provide is important background insight. Best of all, it's detailed and without the subject company hype. If you're looking for insider information (and who's not), this is the place. Make sure to checkout if there is a message board for your target company.
InvestQuest	Another site that helps you find annual reports on your target company. Easy, organized search tool. Can locate available reports via industry segments. A good way to get background information on targeted industries.
Wetfeet.com	Excellent for industry research.
Wall Street Research Net	Fast way to see the latest press releases on your subject company. Serves as a gateway to free, for-sale, and in-depth information about companies.
Wright Research Center	Access to a database of 18,000 companies maintained by Wright Investors' Services.
Yahoo	Can't forget these guys. If you are looking for links to companies with a web presence in targeted industries, make sure you visit here. Lots of companies, lots of links.
